Coach Steve Swatzyna welcomes Andrew Turk and Landon Schmidt to the Memphis Tigers in a signing that occurred at Houston High School on Monday, May 6. Andrew and Landon play for the Germantown Rugby Team led by Coach Kevin Roedel.
Andrew and Landon lead an impressive team this year as Germantown is vying for a state championship.
“These boys are some of the best we have at Germantown and I am thrilled that they will be playing for my college team,” said Kevin Roedel. “They are excellent athletes and very coachable. I look forward to watching them excel at the collegiate level.”
The Tigers are expecting to sign 17 new players this year, and if so, this will be the largest recruiting class in recent Tiger memory.
The Tigers have moved to the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference for the 2019-2020 season and will be competing against Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and MTSU on a regular basis.
We ask Tiger friends, family and fans to donate to the Tigers. Donations will be used wisely and are essential to the on-field success of the Tigers. Donations may be made here. Please consider a donation of $20, $50, $100 or $200 as you have been blessed. No donation is too small. They all add up. We are working to raise $200 per player to cover the cost of uniforms, travel, conference dues, and equipment expenses.
Thanks for anything you can do for the Tigers.
